Game of Thrones: Season 8 Finale | Predictions

LOTS OF GAME OF THRONES SEASON 8 SPOILERS AHEAD

Before I begin, I just wanted to say how much of a pleasure it’s been to be a fan of this tv show. It’s been a once in a generation kind of series and I’m so so happy that I was able to grow up watching it. I’ve loved the uncertainty of every characters fate, the absolute massive plot twists and the complete entirety of this universe. It has completely immersed me every season and I’m so excited to be able to rewatch this incredible series for the rest of my life.

But, by saying all of that, if you were to ask anyone that I know, I am very terrible at predicting what will happen with every episode. Having not read any of the books, I have gone into each season blind and excited to find what is yet to come in Westeros and beyond. With it being the last ever episode though, I thought I’d write out my final Game of Thrones predictions, even if they are completely and utterly wrong!

LAST CHANCE TO TURN AWAY – SPOILERS WILL COMMENCE AFTER THIS

Arya will Kill Daenerys

Starting off with the major prediction that’s been going around since the end of Season 8 Episode 3, I think that this recent episode has really built up a mini-battle between Arya and Daenerys. Everyone before this thought that Cersei was the green-eyed Queen that Arya was going to kill, but it looks like that role might fall to Daenerys instead.

With Arya jumping on the white horse heading back to Winterfell, it kind of made her out to look like the saviour that they need once again. Plus, I don’t think anyone else will have the courage to stand up to Daenerys after what she did, unless Arya puts one of her faces on. But, Daenerys definitely fulfilled her word to Jon Snow on ruling with fear instead of love and loyalty – so could this be the case instead?

A Stark will end up on the Iron Throne

(I still class Jon Snow as a Stark btw)

I really do feel as though one of the Starks are most likely to end up on the Iron Throne now. With both Jon and Sansa in the running, I feel as though the people of Westeros are more likely to bend the knee and support one of these two after what Dany has done down in King’s Landing.

Both Sansa and Jon have shown strength and courage from the build-up and running of the “Long Night” where as Daenerys, who was just as courageous then, has now killed thousands of innocents out of anger and madness.

With this being said, I could definitely still see Jon rejecting the throne as he sees how the power of it can cause such destruction within those who sit on it. Plus, after everything Sansa has been through I feel as though she’s the smartest and most reasonable character to end up on the throne.

Bran will Bring a Major Twist

Now, I’m saying this because I feel like we still haven’t seen Bran at his full potential and I’d like to think that he’s going to have a little bit more to play during the final episode. So far all he’s really done this season is reunite with Jamie Lannister and be bait for the Night King. But then again, the Night King was one of the key characters in his story arc so perhaps that was his final major play in Game of Thrones.

But, I would just love to see him have some kind of influence during the final episode as he deserves it after everything he’s been through and the powerful Warg that he’s become.

Tyrion Lannister to survive, or not?

I never know what Tyrion is going to get himself into, but after seeing the way he reacted to Daenerys’ decision to burn the innocent and all of King’s Landing after they surrendered, I don’t think he’ll be very loyal hand to his Queen after all.

After sending Varys to his death, I’m sure he’ll soon realise how right his best friend was and maybe come up with a way to make sure that Dany doesn’t sit on the throne? Or maybe he’ll die trying? I really have no clue how he’s going to play his next set of cards but I hope he survives and helps in creating the next chapter of Westeros. He is one of the smartest minds in Westeros after all.

Winterfell to become the new King’s Landing

After the destruction of King’s Landing in last night’s episode, I really think that Winterfell could become the new King’s Landing, with one of the Starks on the throne and Arya as the slayer of the Night King, it would only be right for the people of King’s Landing, and Westeros, to flock and turn to Winterfell for security and answers.

Unless King’s Landing is rebuilt, which I feel is unlikely, I don’t see why this prediction couldn’t happen. The people of the North are loyal to Jon and the Starks anyway so for all those with homes and families lost, it could potentially become the place where the ruler of Westeros would sit.

(I couldn’t find a GIF of Winterfell so I decided on one that represented it well with the OG GoT character, Ned Stark.)

Now all I have to do is wait until the final episode is aired to see how correct, or more-so incorrect, my predictions will be and seeing as I’m in the UK you can bet that I’m staying up until 2AM to catch it! Please let me know in the comments what you think could happen in the Game of Thrones finale next week.

I will do a long, full series write up about a week or two after the finale so keep an eye out if you enjoyed this post!

Until next time,

  1. Ah I can’t believe there’s only one episode left! I’m so curious as to find out who kills Dany, last night’s episode was crazy. I really want to see a Stark on the throne too, I feel like they’re all genuinely good people as shown by Jon last night. If Tyrion dies I will be so upset, he’s one of my favourites! I never thought about Winterfell becoming the new King’s Landing but it would make sense!x

  2. Came from a Twitter thread and just wanted to let you know I don’t even watch GOT at all, but the Pinterest pin you created for this post looks so good! Very well done and the post was still an interesting read regardless!
