4 Make Up Products for an Easy Morning Routine

Having an easy morning make up routine is essential to me. When I know all I’ll be doing is working and perhaps checking some things off of my to do list, easy and minimal make up is all I want and need.

It’s taken some time to develop a routine that I love and can pull off in approximately 15 minutes. It’s also taken time for me to get used to wearing so little makeup, but it’s made life so much easier because of it.

Prepping the Skin

Before starting with any make up, we have to prepare our skin so that it stays healthy and glowing throughout the day. If you have any breakouts, now’s the best time to rub in your cream/gel/serum that is used to stop them growing any further.

This above step isn’t essential but it’s definitely worth a try if you get super self-conscious over breakouts like I do.

After this has soaked into your skin, we can moisturise. My best friend recently introduced me to my new favourite moisturiser which is called Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream. It has does wonders for my skin and is one of the reasons that helped me feel confident enough to not wear as much makeup.

Little travels far with this product and for the price it costs, it’s definitely worth the buy.

Primer comes next. The primer I use is one of the first I’d ever bought and I’ve stuck with it since. For this, I use Benefit’s POREfessional. It’s smooth, doesn’t dry your skin out and, much like the moisturiser, you don’t need much to cover your whole face. This product is a bit more pricey, but I’m willing to spend more to ensure I apply good quality products to my skin.

Coverage

Here is the first step that involves actual make up. I only use one product for this step but it’s a product that I will stand by for the rest of my life. It’s an absolute god send and is called the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.

As I am a redhead and quite pale, I use the lightest shade they offer which is Shade 0 Extra Fair. I dab the concealer on my under-eyes and the tiniest amount on my eyelids, on and around my nose, my forehead and chin and then just blend it out with a slightly damp beauty blender.

With great coverage and an even better super cheap price, this is the one product that I will recommend everyone try! I literally buy 2 or 3 of these products every time I walk into a Superdrug.

Longwear

Next, we will need to make sure that more of this amazing concealer sweats off of us. So, the next step will be to add some powder and set what we have just put on. To do this, I use the Maybelline Matte Maker Pressed Power which is again super inexpensive and is a product that I always make sure I have in my make up bag.

This is such an essential that I always carry it with me just in case I’m in need of a top up!

Definition

Finally, we need to add some definition to our look and we’ll do this by adding some colour and shape to our eyebrows, and a little lick of mascara to our eyelashes. To be able to complete this look, I go back to Benefit’s range and use the Browzings in Shade 3 and the Roller Lash Curling Mascara.

We don’t have to use much of either product as we’re not looking to do a full eyebrow and eye look, but instead just enhancing what’s already there. With the brows, we might just add some strokes of colour to tidy up the shape of our brows and to make them more prominent after the use of the powder earlier.

What you do with the mascara however is up to you. Sometimes, I like to only put product on to the top lash line and leave the bottom lashes for a super natural look for work. On other days I do both lash lines for more of a fuller look, and honestly, it all depends on how I’m feeling that morning.

Hopefully this little guide, of steps and products, will help some of you out! If you have any products that you’re completely in love with that would be great alternatives, please let me know in the comments. I’m always looking for new products to try and test out!
