Welcome to my new post! This week is all about my go – to makeup products that I always have in my makeup bag. Recently, I’ve been loving doing my makeup and I just thought I’d share my absolute favourites with you!
Before I begin, I’d like to let you guys know that I have been using these products religiously in my makeup routine for months, if not years. So, if you feel like there is a little bias towards a certain brand, it’s not intentional – you’ll understand once you finish the post.
To start off with I’d like to talk about my primer, seeing as it is the first thing I use in my makeup routine. The primer I use is the Benefit PORE-fessional (27.50). I’ve been using this products for about year now and it has honestly changed the way I look after finishing my full face of makeup and the way I appreciate primers and skin preparation routines.
My pores are quite bad in the centre of my face, my nose in particular, but even with just a little of this product, that issue is minimised quite a lot. Using this primer means I can apply the rest of my makeup without having to cake it on the areas that make me feel insecure.
I never used to think about priming my skin before doing my makeup and thought buying a primer was just a waste of money but since using the product I can’t believe I didn’t start using it sooner!
Now, for my concealer, I’m pretty sure I use everyone’s favourite. My go-to concealer is the Collection Lasting Perfection (£3.99), which I’m sure is available in most Superdrugs and Boots in the UK.
When I first started using this product, over 2 years ago now, I was using Shade 1 ‘Fair’ because as a redhead I always go for one of the fairest shades a collection has to offer. BUT, since then, and quite recently, they have released another shade which is called Shade 0 ‘Extra Fair’.
Since the arrival of the new shade, I have been buying these concealers in bulks of 3 or 4 because of how much of a perfect match it is for me and my skin. I now use this just on it’s own to cover up any imperfections for a makeup free day without worrying about it looking a little dark and patchy on my face.
Out of all of the products I talk about today, this is the one I would recommend for everyone – that’s if you haven’t got it already!
When it comes to brow products I have played the field quite a bit. I have been quite adventurous with trying out all the new brow products that we seem to be showered with over the recent years.
But saying that, I have returned to the first ever brow product that I bought, which is Benefit’s Brow Zings in Shade 3 (£27.00). As having ‘on point’ eyebrows was such a massive deal a few years ago, I really did try a lot of products but always seemed to come back to this one.
I’m not sure if it was because I trusted it and the colour or because it was so easy to use and knew how to make my eyebrows look good, but it has become my true love in makeup form. As long as I have this and a spoolie in my make up bag, I know my day will be fine.
Otherwise, if I don’t fill in my eyebrows just a little bit, I feel a tad naked!
It’s only recently that I’ve started using bronzer on an everyday basis because before coming across this lifesaver that is Benefit’s Hoola (£25.50), every bronzer I owned seemed to just make really dark brown patches on my face. I’d use it once, say “nope” and throw it away. I genuinley just didn’t get on with any bronzers I tried.
But when I saw that Benefit had released Hoola Lite, I thought this was my chance to be able to contour my face to perfection. There was finally a bronzer for lighter skin. But, to my surpprise, when I sat down the Benefit MUA told me to wear regular Hoola, but use it lightly and then build it up if needed. When I saw how she’d done it and how nice it looked, it made me so happy.
And that is how my love story began with this bronzer.
It’s buildable, blendable and so lovely to use. If you’re fair and in need of a bronzer – I’d go to the closest Benefit Bar and check out the Hoola range asap!
For going out, whether it’s for lunch or a night out, I always reach for my Benefit Roller Lash Mascara (£21.50). I don’t really like to wear false eyelashes because they take up too much time and they always tend to ruin my eyelashes. So when I found Roller Lash and how amazing it made my eyelashes looked – it curls, defines and makes them look soooo long – I bought it there and then and have not looked back since.
But if I’m just going to work, I’ll probably just use a high street waterproof mascara so I don’t sweat it off and also so I’m not using my really nice mascara to work on a daily basis. For this situation, I’m currently using the Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express Waterproof Mascara (£6.99).
I know Benefit have a few mascaras that people rave about online, but Roller Lash is definitley the one for me!
And in saying that, I think that’s my last make up product to mention in this post!
I hope this post helps some of you make future make up decision and I do apologise for the fact that this was basically a Benefit review but I didn’t realise how many of their products I use on a daily basis until this post!
I hope you have all enjoyed and I’ll see you all next week for another post!
